Apartment handover report: common questions
Does the tenant have to sign?
No. You can finish and seal the report on your own; the PDF then carries only your signature. If you want their signature, they sign on your phone with their name and finger, on their own phone from a QR code, or later from an email link, and can add one remark.
How long can the landlord claim damage after I move out?
Six months from the day they get the apartment back (§ 548 BGB). After that, their claims for damage are time-barred. That's why what the report says on the day counts.
What if I forget a meter?
Before you finish, AI lists what's missing, such as “Gas meter: no reading”. Say it, and it drops off the list.
